Chef Matthew Tlusty received his early training at The Culinary Institute of America. One of his first cooking jobs was working for Chef Paul Elbling at La Petite France in Richmond, Virginia.
His experience includes being the Executive Chef at Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown. Before joining the Hilton team, Chef Tlusty was the Executive Chef at Arcadia Restaurant in Shockoe Bottom. While there, Tlusty received two Best Chef of America awards and Arcadia was named one of the top restaurants in the United States by Urbanspoon. Prior to that Chef Tlusty was part of several highly rated ventures in Richmond. In early 2000, he was the Executive Chef at The Berkeley Hotel, a 4 Diamond property, as well as The Jefferson Hotel. Tlusty also owned and operated Limani Fish Grill which received a top rating in Richmond.
Recently Chef Tlusty received yet another Best Chef of America award for 2014. He took over as Executive Chef at Julep's once it moved to its new space on E. Grace Street in spring 2015.
