Join author/musician Questlove, with guests including Richmond drummer/chef Jason Alley, University of Richmond president, cellist and home cook Dr. Ronald Crutcher, GWAR member/chef Mike Derks, singer/songwriter Natalie Prass and moderator/food writer/jazz lover Todd Kliman, for a talk that will explore the creative relationship between food and music. $30 ticket includes beverages, snacks  and surprises. $60 tickets includes all that and Questlove's book, "somethingtofoodabout: exploring creativity with innovative chefs." Beneficiary is Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation.

Plus take away a few tips and recipes from these everyday feast-makers as they do demos. There'll be a Corn of Plenty. One of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs for 2016, Iliana Regan of Chicago's Elizabeth will pair her penchant for Midwestern ingredients, foraging and Nordic-style cooking with Chef Brittanny Anderson's modern take on German-Influenced cuisine. Jason Tesauro will pair wines in his own inimitable style.

Bartender Battle at Casa del Barco, 10 p.m.

We'll have a high stakes competition to see who among Richmond’s many talented cocktail crafters can concoct the ultimate winning potion before your eyes and take home the coveted John Dabney Cup. The three finalists are current Dabney Cup Champion Shannon Hood, James Kohler and Sophia Kim.

Cool Tips from Cool Smoke Pitmaster Tuffy Stone, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

One of the country's top barbecue competitors and talented chefs, Richmond's own Tuffy Stone will open his Cool Smoke school for three hours to talk techniques to make your backyard barbecuing sizzle. Lunch included. 

Oyster Trail Tour including lunch at Merroir, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

 Follow the oysters. Learn the ins and outs of Virginia oysters' resurgence by touring Rappahannock River Oysters, visiting the folks at White Stone Oysters and lunching at Merroir. Lunch, oyster tasting and transportation included.

ChesterFIELD: Farm Tour, a Lunch & Learn with Liquids, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 

This tour visits Broadfork Farm for a tour and lunch from their pizza oven, pops over to Piedmont Hops Farm and ends with sweets and savories paired with craft beer at Steam Bell Beer Works. Transportation included.

Rum & Rogue at The Rogue Gentlemen, 1-3 p.m. 

School's in session at the bar. Ruminate with expert bartenders and special guest Dave Wondrich in this hands-on rum seminar which will include rum and daiquiri history for those who learn best by tinkering with the drinks. Bar bites included.

Punch it Up at the John Marshall House, 4-5:30 p.m.                                                        Quoit Club is in session.  Chief Justice John Marshall was a Madeira fan and you will be, too once Robert Moss, Bartholomew Broadbent and Dave Wondrich unlock the wonders of Madeira cocktails, punches and neat pours at the John Marshall House. We'll have Madeira Cake, quoits and tour the house, too. Must be 21 or older.

Yes, that means tasting 26 wines during a lunchtime event at Vagabond. Small plates will be provided between sips of this alphabet soup of knowledge.
